⭠ Last week's report

The month turns, and again the top spot is here a year earlier!

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
2026 FIFA World Cup 1,698,819 Six teams aren't closed in yet, but a draw for the 48 football squads that will play all over North America was held in Washington, D.C., featuring some head-scratching things like a "FIFA Peace Prize" being presented to Donald Trump and a performance by the Village People. The three hosts got relatively easy groups, as along with European teams to be determined (#24) there will be South Africa and South Korea for Mexico, Qatar and Switzerland for Canada, and Paraguay and Australia for the US.
Stranger Things season 5 1,380,187 The show that provides a nostalgic throwback to adventure and horror movies of the 80s started its final season, showing in 1987 the city of Hawkins quarantined so the military can investigate the "Upside Down" attached to it, the protagonists seeking the ruler of said dark dimension Vecna, and Vecna in turn ordering the kidnapping of children, including the sister of Mike Wheeler. Netflix's unusual release scheme means some upcoming Christmas and New Year's parties might also have viewings of episodes set for the 25th and the 31st.
Stranger Things 1,150,109
Lane Kiffin 1,088,664 These stories always surprise me, because in the UK nobody cares about college/university sports (because our professional sports teams don't hold drafts for university graduates). But in the US, it is big business. This college American football coach is moving from Ole Miss Rebels football to rivals LSU Tigers football.
Deaths in 2025 1,022,970
Why are the flags of Sri Lanka and of Thailand the entry images? Because in the timespan of this week's report, it became clear that both countries experienced their deadliest tropical cyclones of the year. Starting with the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, Cyclone Ditwah has caused over 600 fatalities. Not since the Boxing Day Earthquake (21 years ago) has Sri Lanka seen such a deadly natural force. Next, in the Emerald Kingdom, Cyclone Senyar has caused at least 297 fatalities, if not over 1,000. It did not help that Senyar formed in a body of water that almost never has had a tropical cyclone!
Sadly, Sri Lanka and Thailand are not alone in their recent cyclonic devastation. Typhoon Kalmaegi killed over 250 people as well in November, in the Philippines, and Hurricane Melissa (which made this report) killed over 100 in the Caribbean in October, namely in Jamaica and Haiti.
Raj & DK 920,208 Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dasarakothapalli, collectively credited as Raj & DK, are an Indian filmmaker duo known for their work as writers, directors, and producers in Hindi cinema. Their notable works include Netflix's Guns & Gulaabs and two Prime Video releases, The Family Man (which appeared last week at #16) and Citadel: Honey Bunny, in which they worked with #17 - who Raj married at Linga Bhairavi temple inside Isha Yoga center in Coimbatore.
Millie Bobby Brown 891,781 This British actress had only a few TV roles, including a young Alice in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, when #3 made her a star playing the superpowered Eleven. Aside from helping Godzilla in two movies, Millie basically only worked with Netflix in the past 9 years, including two upcoming movies: one more go as the sister of Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 3, and the romantic comedy Just Picture It.
Dhurandhar 852,710 This Bollywood spy action thriller film written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, is inspired by the real-life incidents, geopolitical conflicts, and covert operations of India's intelligence agency Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) with local gangs and crime syndicates in the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan. The first instalment of a two-part series was released last week and opened to mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. The second instalment is currently scheduled for a release in March 2026.
Zootopia 2 829,805 While Warner Bros. couldn't make a profit despite positively received and acclaimed releases and decided to sell off to the streaming giant who will become the undisputed king of streaming once Netflix merges with HBO Max, which is highly likely to happen soon after the acquisition; Disney continues ruling the theatres despite what critics and online haters say (double when it involves the MCU). The sequel to 2016's Zootopia, still featuring a buddy cop story involving a rabbit and a fox investigating a conspiracy, was released two weeks ago on the occasion of U.S. Thanksgiving and has so far grossed $916 million in just two weeks, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2025; proving to the world once again that Disney is the king of Thanksgiving releases.
ChatGPT 782,673 The way too-early Wikimedia Foundation retrospective of 2025's most viewed (December is still part of the year!) put the chatbot among the excluded pages, and this validates how we'll soon do this as well.
Tere Ishk Mein 675,148 This Bollywood musical romantic drama film starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon in lead roles; a spiritual sequel to 2013's Raanjhanaa was released theatrically 2 week ago to mixed reviews from critics.
Heated Rivalry 636,071 This Canadian sports romance series created, written and directed by Jacob Tierney based on Rachel Reid's Game Changers novel series and set during the 2014 Winter Olympics had its two-episode premiere a week ago with new episodes airing every Friday. It was released by Crave in Canada, HBO Max in the United States and Australia, Sky in New Zealand, and Movistar Plus+ in Spain.
Pluribus (TV series) 626,719 Apple TV's post-apocalyptic science fiction series following author Carol Sturka (played by Rhea Seehorn), who is one of only 13 people in the world immune to the effects of "the Joining", resulting from an extraterrestrial virus that turned humans into a peaceful and content hive mind (the "Others"); continues to release new episodes every Thursday evening.
Survivor Series: WarGames (2025) 546,378 Petco Park in San Diego hosted the latest WWE event.
Noah Schnapp 505,942 #3's season 1 started with Will Byers vanishing. Now the latest one (#2) has him discovering powers and consequences owing to the time he spent trapped in a dark dimension. His portrayer, who in the year before the show started voiced Charlie Brown and worked with Spielberg, certainly has a few talking points (he's gay, is about to finish college, and being Jewish has expressed support for Israel).
Sean Combs 504,815 In another Netflix release, the documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning shows why this rapper is currently incarcerated for frequent lewd and unsavory behavior. The film was produced by 50 Cent, whose feud with "Diddy" dates back to 2006.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu 475,167 After having worked together with Raj Nidimoru of #6 in Citadel: Honey Bunny and The Family Man, this actress married her director at Linga Bhairavi temple inside Isha Yoga center in Coimbatore.
6-7 (meme) 473,069 As a maths teacher, I keep asking myself "when will it die out".
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (film) 472,520 In 2014 Scott Cawthon created a survival game with homicidal animatronic characters which has since become its own franchise includes 11 main series games and 8 spin-off games so far. In 2015, Warner Bros. Pictures began developing a film after acquiring the film rights; but were replaced by Blumhouse Productions in 2017. Finally filming began in February 2023, and the first film was released in October 2023 by Universal Pictures. Following its commercial success, a second film was confirmed and began filming in November 2024. The film was released this week, and much like the first film it received negative reviews from critics but became a commercial success.
Queen Victoria 472,409 One more for Netflix, only it's related to an old show added to its catalogue: Victoria, which ran on ITV from 2016 to 2019 with Jenna Coleman as the British monarch who had the longest reign until being surpassed by her great-great-granddaughter Elizabeth II.
It – Welcome to Derry 459,381 In 1986, Stephen King introduced to the world a trans-dimensional malevolent entity who preys upon the children (and sometimes adults) of Derry, Maine, roughly every 27 years, using a variety of supernatural powers that include the abilities to shapeshift and manipulate reality. Now this prequel HBO series by with Bill Skarsgård returning as the entity is taking place in 1962 and has been releasing one episode per week with the first season finale set to premiere next week. Although storylines for second and third seasons are set in place, Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. may change the way things would've happened.
List of Stranger Things episodes 441,952 By the end of the year #3 will end with 42 episodes across 5 seasons. And given it took 9 years but in-universe only 4 passed, it's widely mocked online how taking so much time made the teenage cast grow too much; which will happen again soon.
Wicked: For Good 402,927 The second part of an adaptation with many layers: film of a musical based on a book that is a revisionist take on the Wicked Witch of the West. With a positive reaction even if it's mostly considered the lesser half of the story (doesn't help that it literally has The Wizard of Oz happening in the background), Wicked: For Good has already made over $400 million worldwide and should make the rounds during award season.
2026 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA second round 399,448 Europe will determine its last four teams at #1 in March. The four-packs that will determine each spot are Wales-Bosnia/Northern Ireland- Italy (the winner of this one goes to Canada's group; Italy in particular will try to stop a shameful streak of two non-qualifications in spite of 4 titles); Ukraine-Sweden/Poland-Albania (its destination is the group of Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia); Slovakia-Kosovo / Turkey-Romania (USA's group); and Czech Republic-Ireland / Denmark-North Macedonia (Mexico's group).
2025 Formula One World Championship 398,750 The season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took place on 7 December. For most of the season it looked like a two-horse race between the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. But somehow the four-time reigning champion Max Verstappen has stayed within reach (due to exception skill and McLaren mistakes). Therefore three drivers are still in contention to win the title (for the first time since 2010, when there were actually four). Norris is in the box seat but with Verstappen and Piastri close behind. As this report only covers to December 6, you are going to have to wait for next week's report to come out to find out what happened…
